SEMO 2020 conference
16 – 18 April 2020
It’s my pleasure to invite you to attend the 16th Scientific and 10th Educators’ Meeting in Optometry, here in Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand!
SEMO is a gathering of optometrist-educators and vision scientists from across Australasia, who share a passion for innovation in teaching practice and for world-leading basic and clinical vision science. Our varied programme reflects both the diversity of optometry programmes and the high level of inter-disciplinarity that characterises vision research. Our workshops in particular emphasise our own programme’s focus on cultural competency, and our use of technology for ocular imaging, assessment of visual function, and treatment of dry eye disease.
The setting for our meeting is the School of Optometry and Vision Science, gloriously appointed on the Grafton Campus of the University of Auckland to overlook the 200-acre Auckland Domain. Conference activities include a programme of talks, poster presentations, practical workshops and demonstration sessions, along with social gatherings over drinks on Thursday and the conference dinner on Friday.
I look forward to greeting you in person but for now
Mauri ora ki a koutou katoa. Nau mai, haere mai, ki Whare Wānanga o Tāmaki Makaurau!
Professor Steven Dakin
Head of School of Optometry & Vision Science
